JURIED EXHIBITiON
2021
Introduction
CREATE Art Center has operated in the Silver Spring community for thirty-five years as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to spark creativity, foster learning, empower individuals, and facilitate community connections through the visual arts.
CREATE Art Center’s Tamar Hendel Gallery invites all local area artists to submit artwork for our first juried exhibition to be shown in Spring 2021.
Eligibility
All mediums (2D & 3D) are accepted. No video/short films. All 2D artworks must be framed with wire hanging to qualify. All winning pieces will be hosted in Tamar Hendel Gallery for a period of 2 months. All other submissions will be hosted on an online gallery.

Submission Guidelines

Complete the online application and upload your images here. Refer any questions to create@createarstcenter.org or call 301-588-2787.

Submit up to 3 image files for works of visual art (paintings, sculpture, drawings, etc).

Files should be high resolution jpg format. 300dpi minimum.

Video/short film works will not be accepted.

The following information is required for each image: Artist’s first and last name, title of work, medium, size of work, date of completion, price/sale status.

Please provide a brief bio and statement about the artwork submitted.

Submission of materials will be confirmed through email. Please allow 48 hours for us to respond.

Work can be recent or older work.

Imagery and/or content should be appropriate for a mixed audience of 10 years old and up.

CREATE Arts Center will not submit for jury review, any material that does not fit this criteria.

By submitting artwork, you give CREATE Arts Center limited permission to publish image(s) of your creative work on our website for the duration of the exhibition.

CREATE Arts Center reserves the right to use all or some of the work to promote the event. You agree to these possible uses and omissions for the duration of the exhibit and the 4 weeks prior and after the event

Submission Fee
Entry fee of $25 can be paid through the submission form here or call 301-588-2787 with MC/Visa/Discover information, or pay in person with a check. All card payments must be made by midnight February 19, 2021. All checks must be mailed/dropped off by February 15, 2020.
Juror
​
Jeffry Cudlin is a Washington, DC-based writer, educator, and curator. Since 2011, he has worked with students in MICA's first-in-the-nation MFA in Curatorial Practice program. Cudlin previously served as Director of Exhibitions for the Arlington Arts Center in Arlington, Virginia, and as a member of the Board of Trustees for The Contemporary, Baltimore’s nomadic art museum without walls.
Sales
CREATE Arts Center will manage all onsite and online gallery artwork sales, including collection and payment of Maryland’s 6% sales tax. Artists receive 70% of artwork sales price; CREATE Arts Center retains a 30% commission. CREATE Arts Center will provide a list of purchasers to the artist when artwork has sold. Purchased artwork on show in the onsite gallery remains in the exhibition until the show closes.

February 20-21, 2021 – Jury panelists reviews all submissions
February 22, 2021 – Jury results announced and accepted artwork scheduled for exhibitions from March 1, 2021 through April 30, 2021
